Better blowjobs

How can you give a good blowjob?

With blowjobs, everyone has their own techniques. These tips can help you with giving better blowjobs.

  • Use your whole mouth: your lips, tongue, and throat
  • Pay attention to the person you’re giving a blowjob to. Ask him what he likes
  • Sucking on a penis like on an ice cream will feel good to the person receiving the blowjob. But hard sucking usually does not feel good
  • The tip of the penis is called the glans. This is the most sensitive part. Other sensitive areas are the balls and the skin between the balls and the anus. You can lick those too
  • You can massage the penis with your hands. For example, by moving your hands up and down while you stimulate the tip with your mouth. This feels very nice

Avoid touching the penis with your teeth. This might hurt. Do you see your partner is in pain? Try gentler movements.

Some men have a circumcised penis, also known as ‘cut’. This means the foreskin has been removed. A cut penis is usually less sensitive than an uncut penis. People with cut penises can take a longer time to cum.

Deep throating

Deep throating: how can you go deeper?

Deep throating means taking a penis so far in your mouth as you can. This often feels extremely nice for the person you’re blowing. To do so:

  1. Lie down or sit down in a position that make sucking penis easier. You can go deeper if you slightly tilt your head backwards.
  2. Take it easy and increase the depth slowly
  3. Keep calm and take deep breaths through your nose
  4. Do you feel like you’re gagging? Try to swallow
  5. Mix it up: after deep throating for a bit, use other techniques too. This will allow you to catch your breath

Did you smoke or drink alcohol? This can make deep throating harder.

Receiving a blowjob

When you’re receiving a blowjob

  • Say what you like and don’t like. This makes the experience nicer for both of you
  • It is common for men not to cum from a blowjob. If that is the case for you, you can jerk off to reach orgasm. The person who’s giving you a blowjob can help you, for example by licking your balls or kissing you
  • You can blow each other at the same time, for example in a 69 position. To do this, you both lie on your side. Or you can rim your partner (lick his ass) while he blows you

Do not cum in your partner’s mouth without asking first. Let him know when you’re close to orgasm. Ask him where he wants you to shoot.

STDs and HIV from blowjobs

Can you get an STD from blowjobs?

  • Do you give blowjobs? Then you could get an STD in your throat. Gonorrhea and syphilis are especially infectious.
  • Do you receive blowjobs? Then you could get an STD in your penis. Do not get a blowjob from someone with a cold sore. This is caused by herpes and can also affect your penis.

Can you get HIV from blowjobs?

The chances of getting HIV from blowjobs are very, very low. If you receive a blowjob, it’s extremely unlikely to get HIV. If you give a blowjob, there’s a chance you could get HIV from your partner cumming in your mouth. If your gums are bleeding, or you have a small lesion or an STD in your mouth, your chances of getting HIV are higher.

Most people with HIV take medication for it. As a result, they cannot pass on HIV anymore. People with early-stage HIV who are not on medication yet can pose a higher risk for you to contract HIV. Read more about HIV.

Reducing the chances of STDs

Reducing the chances of STDs

This is how you can lower your chances of getting an STD or HIV from blowjobs:

  • Use a condom
  • Get vaccinated against hepatitis A and B. Read where you can get a shot
  • Do you have group sex? Wash the penis with water and soap before taking it in your mouth
  • Do you want to be sure you will not get HIV? You might be interested in using PrEP. This is a pill that protects you against HIV. Read more about PrEP

Healthy mouth

Healthy mouth and gums

Take care of your mouth so your gums don’t get inflamed. Inflamed gums increase the chances of getting STDs. This is how you can take care of your oral health:

  • Visit a dentist and dental hygienist regularly
  • Brush your teeth twice a day. Use a toothpick, floss or an interdental brush to remove food rests and tartar
  • Prevent lesions in your mouth. Avoid brushing and flossing your teeth right before or after the sex. Do you want a fresh breath? Use chewing gum or a breath mint
  • After oral sex, rinse your mouth with alcohol-based mouthwash. This can slightly lower chances of getting STDs

Get tested regularly

Even if you only give or receive blowjobs, you can still get and pass on STDs. Get a free HIV/STD test twice a year.
