Rules

Rules for paid sex

Sex for money is also called sex work or prostitution. If you pay someone else for sex, you’re called a client. If you receive money for sex, you’re a sex worker.

Sex for money is allowed by the law. You must always follow these rules. Even if you have sex for money only once. Not respecting these rules is a criminal offence.

  • The person who’s offering sex must be at least 18 years old. Paid sex with minors is forbidden
  • That person must also be an EU citizen or a residency permit holder
  • A sex worker must be registered at the Kamer van Koophandel (the Dutch Chambre of Commerce)

How to recognize it

This is how you can tell if someone wants money for sex

On dating apps you might see men who call themselves ‘escort’ or ‘payboy’. They will add emojis to their profile text, like cash or a diamond ring. Or they might write something on their profile like 'looking for generous' or 'nothing is for free'. Is someone looking for a ‘paydate’? That means he’s also willing to pay for sex.

Tips if you pay

Tips if you want to pay for sex

Do you want to pay someone for sex? Remember to do this:

  • Make sure the person is at least 18 years old
  • Make clear agreements beforehand. Tell him what kind of sex you want and agree on the price
  • Paying for sex doesn’t mean that the sex worker must do what you want
  • Always fuck with condoms. STDs and HIV are more common among male sex workers
  • Never pressure the sex worker to have sex he doesn’t want to have. And don’t offer more money for unprotected sex
  • Be careful with drugs and alcohol. Don’t drink too much and be cautious with drugs (chems)
  • Theft happens often. Don’t bring any valuables. Or hide your valuables at home

  • Always call your client before meeting him. Does he sound drunk or high? Or unfriendly, or aggressive? Is he not picking up? Then don’t go see him
  • Tell a trusted person who you’re meeting and where. Call this person if something goes wrong
  • Tell your client what kind of sex you want to have for which price. Also, tell him what you don’t want to do
