Can you still not find the code? Then you have 2 options:

  • The code on your referral letter will expire after 3 months. That means you can view your results even after some time has passed. Are you applying to get tested again? Then you will get a new code.

  • There is an experation date on your referral letter. Make sure that you have your appointment with the testing location before that date.

  • Unfortunately, sometimes one or more of your tests can go wrong. Did you receive a notification? Then email your local GGD. They can tell you what’s going on.

    • Your phone number

Filling in the questionnaire

Questions about filling in the questionnaire

  • When making an appointment for an STD test, you will be asked questions about your health. This is necessary to understand if Testlab is the right place for you to get tested. Sometimes it’s better to go directly to the GGD’s STD clinic or to your GP. In this case, we will let you know.

Besides, some of the questions are needed by RIVM regulations for all STD tests done by GGDs. The answers are used for research purposes.

  • Your data can only be accessed by the GGD. They do not share your data with other parties. Only you can view them. Read how we handle your privacy.

  • We ask where your sex partner(s) come from because STDs are more common in certain countries.  RIVM processes this data for scientific research. RIVM makes these questions mandatory for every STD test.

Making appointments

Questions about making appointments

  • Normally, you can go to Testlab without an appointment. Due to COVID, you often need to make an appointment in advance. You can make an appointment at one of the locations found on your referral letter. You cannot make an appointment with a Testlab location that is not included in your letter.

    Questions? Email your local Testlab.

  • Can you not get help from a Testlab in your area? Then you can go to one of the other testing centres included in your referral letter. You can also visit the GGD’s STD clinic to get tested. In this case, you might have to wait longer.

Is the wait for the GGD long? And do you want to get results quickly?

    • Go see your GP for an STD test. In this case, you will have to pay for it yourself.
    • Buy a home testing kit. You can take the samples yourself and send them to the lab for examination. You will get your results online. Order a reliable home testing kit.
  • Some postal code areas are associated to a slightly further Testlab location. In these cases you might need to travel further. Unfortunately, this is not something we can change.

There could also be no Testlab location associated to your postal code area. If so, you can get tested for free at a GGD in your area.

  • Unfortunately, a printed letter is needed for some Testlab locations. We want to solve this issue as soon as possible. But for the time being, you still need to print the letter and bring it to your appointment.

Are you going to Testlab in Rotterdam or Amsterdam? Then you do not need a printout.
